FOUNDER
As a five-year-old, Lauri already says she will one day live in Spain. A vision without ever having been there, but a seed is clearly already planted. Curious has always been her nature, and adventurous too.
After working for years as an editor for magazines such as Men’s Health, Esquire and FHM, her path shifts after attending a weekend retreat. Something becomes very clear there: this is what she wants to do. She wants to create retreats. She does not yet know this will eventually be in Ibiza.
She starts with a yin yoga teacher training, as she believes this is the most therapeutic form of yoga. Yin helped her move through a deep period of grief and depression. It reconnects her with breathwork and the parasympathetic nervous system, knowledge she wonders why not everyone has access to this.
As an Aquarius, she loves sharing everything she learns. Her journey through the world of yoga and personal development continues to deepen.
She is never done learning. Fortunately, she now gets to bring everything she has learned and loves into her own life and work. When she and her partner decide to move to Ibiza, One Day Retreat Ibiza is born. Today, Lauri mainly works behind the scenes and has built a warm, experienced team of One Day Retreat Ibiza family teachers. She now only offers private sessions, with a specialization in couple retreats and floating Yoga Nidra & Sound bath.
Looking back, she feels proud of where she is. First believe, then see, that's her motto. She is Jochem Thijssen, her partner in crime and co-founder of One Day Retreat Ibiza, forever grateful. Although he is no longer present in the yoga space, he continues to be her biggest support behind the scenes.
